The United Nations Expert Meeting on Space for Women, jointly organized by the United Nations Office for Outers Space Affairs (UNOOSA), the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation of Brazil (MCTI), the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB), the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) was held at the EXPO Exhibition Centre in Dubai, from 21 to 22 October 2021.
The expert meeting focused on sharing ideas and expertise regarding how the benefits
of space can reach women and girls, and ensure they have an equal and active role in the areas of
space science, technology, innovation, and exploration. During the meeting, participants were
enhance existing partnerships and forge new ones, with the main aim of promoting gender equality
and women empowerment in the space sector in accordance with Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs) 4 (Quality Education) and 5 (Gender Equality). ANUSSTL had the opportunity to participate in this high-level meeting. The head of Operations for the Laboratory, Dr. Anita Antwiwaa participated on the panel “Let’s make space in the aerospace industry and STEM fields for Women“.
